Many companies are selling carpet protection films these days, all claiming their film is the best. The fact is only one company offers a carpet protection film with a SOLVENT based adhesive and the product is Carpet Mask. Others offer a film with a water based adhesive.
Why is this difference so important? SOLVENT based adhesives offer several significant advantages and protection from potential carpet damage to the user:
SOLVENT based adhesives make the film easy to unroll and apply to the carpet, saving you labor dollars.
SOLVENT based adhesives coat the film more evenly in the manufacturing process. This allows the film to adhere to the carpet evenly rather than having pockets of non-sticking film or "float" as is often the case with water based products.
SOLVENT based adhesives do not break down with conditions of moisture as do water based adhesives. Moisture is everywhere, and that's why water based adhesive films often fail. When moisture softens the water based adhesive combined with normal foot traffic, a costly adhesive transfer to the carpet often occurs.
